Kenya

In our topic Kenya, the children studied the Maasi tribe. They learnt how about the Maasi's huts that the women make out of sticks, cow dung and mud. This is so they can move on when their animals have finished grazing and need new grass. The children learnt that the men are known for being very tall and jumping very high. They also looked closely at what the tribe wear, how women wear purple and the men wear red and at their beaded jewellery, before crafting their own.

This half term we have been busy learning about the United Kingdom. Year 2 class have learnt about the landscape, landmarks and cultural traditions and celebrations in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

They have had a go at making their own tartan weaves using paper and card, they danced an Irish jig, we had a field trip around Blofield and marked key landmarks on a map such as the library and the church. The children  baked Scottish shortbread with plenty of sugar sprinkled on top!
