Autumn Term 2

For our topic this half term, we spent some time investigating light and the reflective properties of materials. We recapped key vocabulary including: translucent, transparent and opaque, and experimented with shadow-making. During our trip to Norwich Cathedral, we explored light, colour and shadows by looking closely at the features of this magnificent building. We had a wonderful time learning lots about the history and religious significance of the Cathedral.

Autumn Term 1

We were all really fascinated by our rocks and fossils topic this half term! We discovered different types of rocks; we learnt how they were formed and had a go at grouping them based on their properties. We explored how fossils are formed and learnt about the life of famous paleontologist, Mary Anning. Finally, we took a close look at soil, learning about the different layers and how it is formed from rocks, air, minerals, water, plant matter and animal matter.
