Year 4
Autumn 2
With only a couple of weeks remaining before Christmas, we are entering the final stages of our learning this term and all looking forward to a well-earned rest over the festive period. We have made huge strides so far in our learning and the class have shown great resilience and perseverance to keep working even when finding things tricky. We have worked incredibly hard to improve our formal methods of multiplication and division in maths with long multiplication and the bus stop method for division. This will only continue to improve as our times table table knowledge also improves.
In English, the class have really enjoyed reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and designing their own chocolate bar and adverts to go with them. I would buy them all if I could! We are also currently working on writing a newspaper report about Charlie finding the final golden ticket which I'm sure would make the front pages of every newspaper available.
The topic of the Anglo-Saxons and Scots has been one which has been of great interest to the class and it was really great to be able to link this learning back to our school trip to West Stow. We were also incredibly lucky to be able to handle some real life Anglo-Saxon artifacts, some that had only been discovered in the last few weeks.
I have been incredibly impressed with all the homework that has been given to me so far from the Scandinavia project and it is wonderful to see the class be able to share their learning with you all at home. I will not be setting any homework to be completed over the Christmas holidays but will remind everyone to continue reading 5 times a week and complete Times Table Rockstars 3 times a week for at least 15 minutes at a time.
